Add Fragrance: Ensure your 2oz glass spray bottle is clean and sanitized with alcohol or hot water before you begin. Allow it to dry, then measure the Pink Sugar Cookie fragrance blend directly into the bottle.
Add Liquid: Add the vegetable glycerin, vanilla baking extract, and high-proof alcohol. Replace the lid and shake well to combine.
Age Fragrance: As with any perfume or fragrance, for best results, allow it to macerate for one to two weeks before use. This gives the aroma components time to marry and develop in the alcohol base while also allowing the sharper almond and grapefruit notes to mellow.
Shake and Use: Shake well before each use, then spritz onto moisturized skin to lightly perfume it with the smell of sugar cookies. You can also use this body spray as a hair perfume or layer it with a scented body butter or body oil to create your own signature fragrance.
- Yield: This recipe yields approximately 50mL (1.7 fl oz) of perfume spray. You can use a 50mL glass spray bottle or a 2oz (60mL) bottle to leave a little extra room at the top for shaking. Fragrances should always be stored in glass rather than plastic.
- Storage: Store in a cool, dark cupboard. Refrigeration can also help extend its shelf life, as benzaldehyde is temperature-sensitive. Although clear glass bottles look pretty, dark glass or UV-protective glass is preferable to protect fragile essential oils and aroma compounds from exposure to light. But I personally still use clear glass and simply keep my perfume protected. Don't forget cute purse-sized bottles for carrying it on the go!
- Fragrance Concentration: With a fragrance concentration of approximately 10%, this recipe falls somewhere between a light perfume and a scented body mist, with a sweet scent that's lighter than a typical eau de parfum. This concentration is within the typical range for an eau de toilette (EDT), making it more concentrated than many store-bought body sprays. Tonka bean absolute also helps anchor the fragrance so it lasts longer on the skin.
